Students may experience a variety of crisis situations. Our schools have two departments that support students experiencing different types of crisis situations.
Student Support primarily focuses on supporting mental health functioning through tiered supports and addressing risk/threat assessments.
Student Affairs focuses on supporting students with coordinating and navigating their educational programming during times of personal/situational hardships.
For more information regarding support in the areas supported by Student Affairs, visit our Student Affairs Department page of the handbook and/or refer to this training: Student Affairs Educational Access Training Slides
When a family is in crisis and is in need of immediate shelter - we recommend sharing our PCA Cares Community Resource Site or calling 211 or go to the 211.org web page.
If you have a student that you feel requires the Student Support Team's involvement due to a non-immediate crisis situation, please use Students In Crisis survey to alert the team to these needs. A member of the Student Support Team will contact you as soon as possible. For emergencies and urgent concerns, please see the graphic below.
A risk assessment may be conducted in situations involving immediate or urgent concerns. Please follow this flow chart to determine when a risk assessment may be warranted and whom to contact:
