19.4 - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
MTSS, or Multi-Tiered System of Supports, is a general education framework designed to provide targeted support to struggling learners. It is a comprehensive approach that encompasses all aspects of a student's educational development through differentiated, tiered supports. MTSS relies on data collection and analysis to inform decision-making and appropriately match the type and intensity of the interventions offered to a student's needs.
PCA's MTSS framework utilizes a tiered system of increasingly intensive interventions with a particular focus on:
- academics
- speech/language development
- social/emotional learning
