Requesting Tier 2 Academic Support
If Tier 1 Academic Support is actively in place for at least two full Learning Periods yet a student sill has difficulty making progress in one or more content areas, then Tier 2 academic support should be requested by creating a Student Support Incident in EduClimber. The Tier 1 Academic Support Plan should be up-to-date with detailed explanations of what has been done to support the student thus far. Work samples in the area(s) of concern should also be attached in the student's dashboard. Taking both of these steps is critical in helping us to determine the most appropriate next steps.
Once the Student Support Team receives the Incident, a Student Support Advisor (SSA) will be assigned to assist with implementing recommendations. The SSA will reach out to the LC with information with detailed information about the recommendations. The HST will be included on all communication
Tier 2 Intervention Platforms
Amira Instruct
Grades K - 2
Amira is an reading intervention for students in grades K-2 available once the dyslexia screener has been administered. It is an AI-powered program that uses speech recognition technology to listen to students read aloud, identify areas of struggle, and provide personalized tutoring through targeted activities.

- Amira Instruct = 10-15 minutes daily
- Amira Tutor = 10 minutes, twice per week (ideally Tues/Thurs)
Freckle & Lalilo
Grades K - 12
Freckle is an adaptive learning platform powered by Renaissance that offers practice and instruction in reading, writing and math across all grade levels. Lalilo is the built-in platform that focuses on early decoding skills. Star 360 diagnostics automatically identify areas to target within the Freckle platform. A Student Support Advisor can also assist with ensuring that the student's learning path specifically aligns with their needs.
Usage recommendations:
- One content area (ELA or Math) = 20 minutes, 4-5 days per week
- Both content areas = 10-15 minutes each area, 4-5 days per week

*** NEW *** Freckle Labs
Beginning Cycle 3, Student Support is excited to offer a new, optional intervention opportunity available to all Tier 2 students - live, virtual Freckle Labs! Each week our Intervention Teachers will lead lessons designed to address critical standards across 1st - 8th grade that align with targeted lessons in the Freckle platform. Students can join as many and as often as they would like. Students who join will be assigned additional targeted practice to work on independently after the lesson. Once the targeted lesson has been completed, students can return to working on their adaptive pathway.
Both LCs and HSTs are encouraged to join the Freckle Lab Google Classroom to learn more: https://classroom.google.com/c/ODIxODAzMjA0ODc1?cj...
Classes will run from the Week of March 2nd through the week of May 4th.

Monitoring Tier 2 Academic Support
Tier 2 intervention periods will typically last 8-10 weeks during which time the student and LC's engagement in the recommendations will be monitored by the Student Support Advisor, HST, and Intervention Teacher (if student is participating in Freckle Labs). At the end of the intervention period, new recommendations will be made by the Student Support Advisor.
