Q. What curriculum is used in the Designated ELD Classes?
A. Depending upon grade level and EL level of students will use: Lexia Core 5, Lexia Power Up, Launch to Literacy, Link to Literacy, Essentials in Writing, ELPAC Practice workbooks, with assignments for independent practice to be completed on non-class days.
Q. Who assigns the grades for K-12th grade students that attend the Designated ELD Classes?
A. The Designated ELD teacher will send information to the HST about the student's progress in the class and a recommended grade. The HST will take that information along with the work the HST has reviewed at each LP meeting to determine and enter the final grade in SIS.
Q. Will I submit an ELD Sample for each LP?
A. Yes. Teachers with EL students will submit two EL samples each LP: 1 Usage Report from Lexia and 1 ELD Writing Sample or ELPAC workbook page.
Q. I have a high school student in a Designated ELD class. How are grades assigned?
A. Designated ELD Classes follow the same grading procedure as an elective class, based on time. 54-60 hours per semester = A etc.
Q. I received an ELD student on my roster in the middle of the school year, how do I sign up the student for Designated ELD Classes?
