Student Travel Plan
Purpose: Inform our families of the school’s expectations while on vacation or extended travel. The travel plan should be completed and on file when a family will be out of the counties we serve (San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Imperial) for more than two weeks. As a reminder, even if a family does not have a travel plan, teacher should be aware of how many cumulative days students are traveling each semester to ensure that they still meet our residency requirement. If you have a student who is going out of the country, filling out and submitting a travel plan will ensure that the family will have access to Zoom while they are away. Tech uses the submitted travel plans to adjust Zoom permissions.
Process:
- Once teachers are notified that a student will be going on an extended vacation, please complete ALL information on the Student Travel Plan (please make a copy, fill it out for your student(s), and then send it to the family)
- Be sure to include meeting and/or testing dates they must attend and due date for LP work samples
- Send to family for student and parent/guardian signatures
- Send to your Team Principal for signature
- Fill out the Travel Plan Survey
- Upload the complete travel plan for each student in the Student Notes section in the student's dashboard in Pathways.
- HSTs are responsible for ensuring a travel plan is in place while a student is out of our boundaries during the school year. This plan ensures that families know how long they can be away and what is still expected of them.
Reminders:
- Per the Residency Policy, students cannot be on vacation or extended travel (out of San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, or Orange County or out of the country) longer than two months per semester (61 consecutive days or 61 cumulative days throughout the semester), or they will be deemed to have lost California residency and therefore will be withdrawn from Pacific Coast Academy.
- If the student has special education services, PCA cannot hold any services while a student is out of state or out of the country. Students in SPED may only receive their services while in CA.
